She Runs It Community Guidelines and Expectations

Hey Boss Lady,

So you wanna know about the community? She Runs It is a free online community for Women of Color who are changing the world, and their family tree through wealth building and small business creation.

I am super excited you are thinking about joining us. She Runs It is your go to place for support, networking, and real talk strategies about quitting your job, starting a business, growing a side hustle, or scaling your enterprise. And yes, I know that your career is only one facet of your awesomeness.

This group is for sharing tips, questions, answers, wins, challenges and most importantly tons of support on your business building journey. You aren’t the only one trying to figure this out while managing family, your health, a social life and all the rest of it!

Like anything else, this group will give you just as much as you put in, so please share your knowledge, strategies, blessings, and good vibes freely. Marie (me) will pop in once a week sharing live content and fielding questions as much as possible but please know I don’t got all the answers. . . and we can all learn faster and go further by pouring into the group.

This community is a safe space where should feel comfortable being yourself and getting real. Our goal is to support and educate, so here are a couple of guidelines to keep those goals super clear and front of mind.

1. LIMITED SELF PROMO

The group is here to big you up and help your business grow, but we want that for everyone. The expectation is that you will provide resources, share knowledge and uplift with words of affirmation 5-10 times more than you will post an advertisement or solicit for sales. What do we consider self-promotion/soliciting?

  • Selling Anything – products, services, courses, events and programs…anything that feeds your bottom line.
  • Promoting your webinar, live broadcast, or event
  • Posting affiliate links
  • Posting “free” offers of your own product or service while asking for an email opt in for access (ahem, its not free if peeps gotta give you something to get it)

There will be threads each week to share what new stuff you are working on or to get feedback on something you might have in beta. And you can post your wins, gratitudes, and cool links related to WOC business success whenever you want. But let’s keep your personal business sales solicitations to about 10-20% of what you do m’kay? You have the whole rest of Facebook to blast links all day e’rday.

2. #ASK #WIN #TIP

To make finding stuff in this group easier, please use either an #ask, #win or #tip hashtag when you post a relevant item.

#ASK = Any question you may have about running your business, getting started, managing the work life continuum (you get the idea).

And please be concise in your questions! We’re all busy out here saving the world for the people we love. Short and sweet makes it easier for others to respond ASAP.

#WIN = Any awesome thing you got going on or general gratitude for how you have been blessed. From landing a new client, to getting through the week, nothing is too big or too small. We aren’t always the best at tooting our own horns, so please, please help us celebrate you when you are doing all the things. Toot toot.

#TIP = Any tips, strategies, lessons, or insights you have learned along the way. Share the love! Found a great article, resource, workshops, event? Tell us about it. It takes a village, so offer feedback, strategies and best practices whenever you can.

3. NO POSTING PERSONAL VIDEOS

Personal video content posting is limited to me and my moderator crew. Otherwise, this is a big no-no! No posting or sharing your own videos (live or pre-recorded) – whether it’s from your personal profile, your FB page, your YouTube account, or your website. The ONLY exception is sharing motivational, instructional, inspirational or downright funny videos. Again, these can’t be your own videos (and let’s keep them to a minimum. A little goes a long way.)

4. BE KIND

To yourself and to others. No rants about other women, how they run their businesses, or general negative vibes allowed. Keep it real, but be respectful. Everyone here has the best intentions and a little grace goes a long way.

5. BE HELPFUL (GOOD VIBES!)

Provide genuine and helpful feedback and suggestions to others.

  • Ask questions.
  • Give answers.
  • Be the kind of supportive friend that you would want and need on your entrepreneurial journey.

6. WHEN TO DM MARIE

Okay, Marie (that’s me) is the only Admin for now, but as we grow, there may be an additional moderator or two in the mix to keep things spicy. I’m a business owner with a life too, so again, be kind, be concise and try to keep the DMs about the group to me (or other Admins) to emergency questions and concerns only.

Now that you know what to expect, jump on in. I can’t wait to grow with you at She Runs It: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sherunsit
