Description

WHY COACHING CLINIC-2

Now that you have your coachee talking, what do you do with all the information they share with you?

When coaching an employee, it is essential to maintain safe boundaries. Team members should feel comfortable going to their managers. Leaders who learn to summarize and articulate what is going on can connect in one-on-one and group conversations, communicating clarity, empathy, and understanding. Recognizing what is going on, leaders can reflect on what is necessary to progress. Informed emotional intelligence allows managers to better serve their workplace community.

The coaching framework is designed to nurture the partnership between the manager and the people. This partnership is maintained through action, accountability, championing, and acknowledgment. Setting goals will allow the partnership to map out opportunities for growth as well as plan to pivot around likely obstacles. Utilizing reflection and summarizing, managers can focus the conversations on accountability and improvement for the next stage.

ABOUT COACHING CLINIC-2

As we continue our learning together, in part 2 of this 2-part clinic, coaching skills continue to build with the exploration of summary and reflection techniques before we engage in multiple rounds of peer coaching demonstrations led by a certified coach practitioner. Before leaving the clinic, all participants are also introduced to a coaching framework to guide the coaching conversations with colleagues before practicing in small groups. We end this experience with each learner committed to actions for ongoing practice with their new coaching toolkit.
